Purpose of SWRSCHE The purpose of this report identifies omissions in critical schedule data and helps individual academic departments and the Registrar’s Office correct data errors for improved internal and external reports. Because some items cannot be edited once registration has begun, it is recommended the report be run prior to quarterly registration to facilitate correction of errors and omissions prior to peak reporting deadlines.
Report Format There are two output options, the.xls (opens in Excel)or the.lis (pdf format) report Either one can be used as a work sheet to make changes/corrections
Excel Format The.xls opens as an Excel spreadsheet and can be manipulated as a typical Excel file, however, because of its size, it is difficult to print This file contains records that need to be updated and records that are complete (indicated with an ‘OK’ in the result column) Columns with * require data to be added or corrected Empty columns labeled ‘Flag’ may be used to enter correct data
PDF Format The.lis opens as a pdf file and cannot be electronically manipulated, but will have spaces to write in information
Errors and Omissions The following are considered required data: Combined lab/lectures correctly identified on room record Meeting time for session Meeting day(s) for session Building and/or room for session Instructor assigned to session Instructional Method Primary instructor designated for session Session responsibility – must equal 100% Errors and omissions are denoted by an ‘ * ’ and/or a blank line and must be corrected
Schedule Type Groups Correct and accurate data is important for all WWU courses. However, lecture type courses (schedule types S, C, L, B, D) will be examined more closely than other types of courses. Therefore, courses have been divided into two groups: Group 1=S, C, L, B, D Group 2=All other schedule types
Group 1 Seminar (S) Combined (C) Lecture (L) Lab (B) Discussion (D) Combined lecture/lab or discussion set up: C is entered on the 1 st screen of SSASECT L&B or L&D are entered on the meeting location and credits screen
Group 2 All other schedule types Applied Performance (A) Field Experience (F) Independent Study (I) Internship (N) Practicum (P) Research (R) Graduate Thesis (T) Senior Thesis/Senior Project/Capstone (J) Master Class (M) Studio (U) Activity (V) Exam/AP/Challenge (X) – Internal Use Only
Instructional Method Instructional method data has been loaded into the schedule. Please verify your courses have the correct instructional method assigned. All courses will be coded FTF unless coded as a distance course. This data will be used in Look up Classes to Add which will allow students to search on specific instructional methods:
No Meeting Record (Days & Times) for Session Courses without meeting data will be considered incomplete and will exist on the report until days and or times have been assigned
Primary Instructor Normally the ‘primary’ indicator will be checked automatically, however, when there are multiple instructors teaching a course, check the indicator box for the instructor who will be assigning grades, etc.
Percent of Responsibility Each session must equal 100% If two or more instructors are sharing a session, then enter the percentage of responsibility each instructor will have
No Building/Room Assigned May not be left blank, if a university room is required, submit a Changes and Corrections esign form If a departmental room is utilized, it must be entered If you are utilizing a room that has not been built into Banner, contact the Space Administration Office (X3230)
