Absorption and Colour Along with everything else in the world, plants are the colour they are because of the light that they reflect, and all other colours.

Presentation transcript:

The Spectrum Extension Questions Which ray of light gets bent most? Which ray of light gets bent least? Draw the diagram again but imagine that there was something in the way that removed the yellow light when it came out of the prism. FIRSTLY Some of you need to draw this diagram accurately into your books

Colour Filters Copy the diagram into your books. You have only got 7 minutes to complete this before we move on to the next task, a timer has been set

Note on Filters Only red light will pass through a red filter. All other colours are absorbed by the filter. Only blue light will pass through a blue filter, all other colours are absorbed by it Only green light will pass through a green filter, all other colours are absorbed by it You have 4 minutes to copy this into your book…a timer has been set

Coloured Light Worksheet You have twenty minutes to complete as much of the worksheet as possible. Remember to add diagrams as you get extra marks for these. You must work quietly and without leaving your seat You must not disturb other students from their work The answers will be given in twenty minutes time and you can mark your work A timer has been set….

YOUR TIME IS UP STOP WORK NOW

Answers 1. The red ball WILL still appear red (1 mark) because it reflects red light (1 mark) 2. The green curtains will appear green (1 mark) because they reflect green light (1 mark) 3. The green curtains will appear black (1) because they can only reflect green light and there is no red light (1) 4. You could use either a red or a green filter.(1) You will get extra marks for your diagrams when I mark your work.

And finally… Complete the wordsearch. Stick it into your book, and on another page write down what each of the words mean. Homework Complete the word meanings Describe how colour is used as a type of information in our world (eg hazard signs) Hand in to KW on Monday
