Radical A person who believes in swift and major changes in existing institutions towards something never seen before – ex. Communists, Earth First, Black Panthers

Liberal A person who favors gradual changes through the current system and wants more government support of social programs – ex. Green Party and Democrats

Moderate A person who has beliefs from both sides of the spectrum and doesn’t have extreme views – ex. Democrats & Republicans

Conservative A person who values traditions, existing political institutions, & favors limited government involvement in the economy – ex. Republicans

Reactionary A person who is extremely displeased with existing conditions and supports a return to earlier ways – ex. KKK, Amish, Aryan Brotherhood
