Nirvana Stage Diver The lighting is used artificially. The light is inside. Some of the light is coming from the ceiling, but most of the light seems like is coming from the stage. I’m unsure if the light is coming from the stage because concerts are usually dark and there isn't much light, so there’s a great potential it’s the flash that gives light. The main subject in the photo is the rock star diving from the stage to the fans. Not only the title gives me a hint but the background is dark and the diver in the air. This picture uses the rule of thirds, the rule of thirds in this image makes the subject stand out and makes it look interesting. The photographer is trying to show the art of the Rock N’ Roll and how fun and intense thinks can get on stage. There seems to be a story of musicians that carry a lot of passion on being band players, who are usually known for being rebels. I chose this photo because it shows how many people went to these concerts and how reckless they got. UW Hub Ballroom, Seattle, 1990

Kurt Cobian The lighting is used artificially. The light is inside. The light is coming from the background which is from the stage. The lighting good even though there are some dark areas and some bright. That does not affect the main subject. The main subject is the leader of his band Kurt Cobian. I can tell because he is in the center, and that’s where I looked at first when I saw the picture. This picture of Charles Peterson is so striking because of the composition. The composition gives enough information what the main subject is by providing details with the background plus some how having Kurt Cobian upside down playing the guitar. Its focused on Kurt Cobian The photographer is trying to show the sound of the nineties grunge band Nirvana. There seems to be a story with Kurt’s music and the body language is showing. I found it interesting how Kurt was upside down and how intense he was. Commodore Ballroom, Vancouver, B.C., 1991

Sleater-Kinney The lighting is used in a natural way. And is coming from the background. The lighting is perfect there isn't to much light or it isn't dark. It also seems like the light wants to show some bright colors but it cant because its black and white photo. The main subject are the three teenagers, on the center of the photo. The composition is centered. It make the photo so striking because it shows grouping. His trying to show the style there was on that year and there seems to be a story of teenage crews who started music bands. I chose this picture because there are three teenagers walking down the block and just made me wonder what their conversation was about. Portland, 2000

Eddie Vedder The lighting is used artificially. The light is inside. The light is coming from the background which is from the stage. The lighting in this picture makes the image look intense and mysterious. the main subject of this picture is Eddie the rock star. I can tell because his on stage playing his song, and also the light that comes from the background makes him more noticeable. I think the leading lines of the light on the background make the picture so striking. The photographer is trying to show the sound of the nineties grunge music and how it was played on stage with such passion. There seems to be a story with the artist on stage because of his body language. I chose this picture because of the lighting. San Sebastian, Spain, 1996

Soundgarden The lighting in this picture is used artificially. Its coming from inside. The lighting was done well to show who exactly was the main subject. The main subject is the rock star in the center of the picture. I can tell because he is what draws most of the attention and takes up most of the room in the photo. The composition is great because the main subject is at the center and that helps a lot. There are also leading lines on the image. The leading lines are the microphone wires that lead to his hand. The photographer once again is showing off the passion young artist had for music and lyrics. There seems to be a story off band players having fun as they express their feelings with music. I chose this picture because the way he made this picture seem like he was moving. It gave the main subject direction to were he was moving. Berkeley, CA, 1989
