What is Archaeology _______________is the study of very old objects such as artifacts, bones, fossils, tools and buildings. A History of Archaeology Before 1700, archaeologists only kept gold artifacts. This began to change in 1748 when the city of Pompeii was found.

Father of Modern Archaeology ______________The first archaeologists to study everything that he found. He created the inch by inch method. ___________A method where archaeologists keep detailed record of everything they find.
