Finding equivalent Fractions Fractions the same as a ½

Look at the shapes below, they all have ½ shaded but the half could be written in different ways. 1/2 2/4 3/6 4/8

Look at those fractions again! Can you see that the number in yellow at the top of the fraction is exactly half of the number in red on the bottom of the fraction?

Remember for a fraction to be (the same as) EQUIVALENT to a half must be half of the number on the top must be half of the number on the bottom.
