Presentation of the conference Association members of ACADP. Participation to an UN conference about application of death penalty in developped and third world countries. Meeting with martin martinez, commissioner of prisons in trinidad and tobago influenced by UK.

Summary of the confrence Opposite point of views in the conference. some people consider death penalty as a way to reduce crime ( Trinidad, Jamaica ) But several people consider death penalty as an unjustified answer to crime. ( an eye for an eye: revenge more than a solution to solve the problem of crime). The trend consist in abolishing death penalty in general.

The results after the conference Explanations of choices of countries about death penalty application. Many factors could interfere in this decision. Choice linked to the political regime of the country. abolition may be accompagnied by political change and

Expectations about capital punishment Reasons why a coutry should abolish death penalty: -international pressure -impact on the international image of the country. -this could reduce violence and establish stability.
