SCHOOL-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS WVSS

Types of Awards  Provincial: Rewards graduating students for academic excellence in their Provincial exams and assists in post secondary education  Dogwood District/Authority: Rewards excellence in chosen non-academic fields and assists in post secondary education  Bursary: A non-repayable grant awarded to a student in need of financial assistance who has maintained a satisfactory academic record

Types of Awards cont.  University Scholarships: Available only to students who are proceeding to the awarding university  Secondary School Apprenticeship Scholarship: Rewards students training in a chosen trade area  External: Funded and selected by an organization  School-Based: Funded by an organization and granted through the school; some are APPLIED FOR BY STUDENTS and some are NOMINATED BY STAFF

School Based Scholarships *** To be considered for any scholarship, students must have completed the following: 1. Student Profile 2. Three Teacher Reports 3. Service forms for all school and community extra curricular involvement 4. Evidence of criteria if requested 5. Student cover Sheet

School-Based Application Forms Important Information: 1. Complete the Application Form & Cover Sheet 2. Check off only those awards for which you qualify (read the criteria carefully). 3. Complete any necessary items in the Additional requirements column (if you fail to do so you will not be eligible for that scholarship) 4. If you do not complete ALL the steps listed on the application form you will not be considered for the scholarships
