Essential Question: Essential Question: Where can I find FREE resources for literacy centers? Learn how to effectively use and manage free resources which accompany your Journeys reading series in order to differentiate "Read to Self" literacy centers through technology. This can be done in every classroom, even if you don't have access to many devices.

If you leave your name and address, I can you!

ACPSD Literacy Model: ACPSD Literacy Model: Literacy Centers o creates a positive culture of authentic inquiry that challenges students’ thinking and expands their intellectual curiosities. o creates structured literacy centers that address specific standards, reinforce literacy skills, refine reading/comprehension strategies, and/or build content-area knowledge (as evidenced by formative assessment). o establishes the organization and management (e.g., transitions, rotations, etc.) of literacy centers through explicit instruction and direct modeling. o includes specific task/directions, examples, and method for assessment and/or reflection. o introduces and explains each center and clarifies learning expectations before it is added into center rotation. o provides a balanced selection of high-quality texts, engaging assignments, and enrichment resources for students to practice, apply, and extend their literacy skills in meaningful ways. o includes challenging opportunities for students to read, write, think, talk, and listen to relevant content and for authentic purposes. o offers options and choices that are easily adapted to different ability levels and helps students make appropriate choices. o allows students to work independently or in heterogeneous, multi-ability collaborative groups. o monitors literacy center groups (while working with a small group). o builds a system of accountability and responsibility for literacy center work (e.g., contracts, checklists, rubrics, choice menus, etc.). o analyzes student work to assess individual, group, and classroom performance, patterns, and progress Your turn
