Saving lives, changing minds. Federation Health WatSan/EH Federation Health WatSan/EH Developmental WASH (GWSI) SDG’s, RM and Flagship. Update, Vienna WASH Advisors Meeting January, Federation WASH

Saving lives, changing minds. Federation Health WatSan/EH Developmental WASH: Where we are at present? GWSI Initial Target trebled since 2005 – over 15 M people reached (Water & Sanitation) and a further 6.5 Million (HP). IFRC and membership reach about 1.5 million people annually and increasing. New target to reach 2 million per year by Over 30 million by Over 90% is rural WASH and over 75% is bilateral. Transition to SDG’s Federation WASH (See GWSI Mapping Analysis for more data)

Saving lives, changing minds. Federation Health WatSan/EH ‘Look Back’ Studies or any other post project reviews: New study completed for Zambia 5 to 8 years since implementation, 65% sustainability, despite early project conclusion. Strong case for low-cost sustainability activities as a follow-on project, would like to hear from interested partners. Use of RAMP/Magpi for the study. Thanks for support German, British, Swedish and Netherlands RCS’s. Funding was 50% IFRC and 50% PNS. Tentative plans for LB studies in Eritrea and Ivory Coast this year. Any other LB plans? (Can you send me any other reviews or reports please???) Federation WASH

Saving lives, changing minds. Federation Health WatSan/EH GWSI next mapping and SDG indicators/GWSI criteria review: SDG indicators still under elaboration within UN system, expected March Once we have the indicators we can review GWSI criteria, thus to reflect the indicators and align with funding streams. GWSI criteria may be expanded to include urban WASH context as an outcome of the TWG. Next mapping early 2017,profiling WWD and Stockholm. Federation WASH

Saving lives, changing minds. Federation Health WatSan/EH Harmonisation ‘Flagship’ updates: Ghana base line and proposal submitted/short listed by OFID. Harmonisation at field level challenging but it can be done. Base line report will be distributed. More challenging may be the actual implementation. Other ‘Flagship’ Zimbabwe also short listed in partnership with Finnish/British Red Cross. Other countries being considered for ‘Flagship’ projects.

Saving lives, changing minds. Federation Health WatSan/EH Other RM updates: (also see printout) EU Africa Trust Fund – resilience including WASH/Health see country list. Importance of coordinated response. Framework. Green Fund accreditation in process. This is a UNFCCC fund for climate resilient programming. Corporate partnerships with Nestle and Cartier continue and negotiations with other corporates under way. UNICEF Letter of Collaboration/Framework agreement. RC/RC Office and EU engagement Brussels planned. Federation WASH
