UPO Arbor Day International Fun Trees in Turkey Winter –Spring Arbor Identification Challenge (Plus fun and inspiration!)

Tree in Cappadocia I think this pine cone looks like a flower. Regardless if we can identify this tree, I just wanted you all to see it. I miss you all and think of you when I am examining trees here in Turkey.

Before we begin! When I first arrived I thought to myself, “I can’t wait to see all these trees in the spring when they bloom and have leaves Then it snowed and I realized how important it is to be careful what you wish for. The following slides are the visions of winter’s trees sleeping in beauty.

Winter trees sleeping in beauty

Later I will send you pictures in spring when the trees bloom to provide more information necessary to possibly identify what kind of trees these are. Examine the buds and the color of the bark for now.

Examine shape and the color of bark and perhaps the branch arrangement for now.
