SPATIAL INEQUALITY Sam, Kiara, & Maren

THE DEFINITION OF SPATIAL INEQUALITY: The unequal distribution of wealth/resources in a geographic area, so that some places are richer than others. PLACE #1 PLACE #2 -$ -$ $ $ -$ $ $

POOR MEXICO Most of the poor New Mexicans Have recently moved there. It is typical of them to not have any Electricity, water, or jobs. Their living conditions are usually Not the best, since their homes Are usually not even real homes With actual roofs, or windows. These places are typically called “The Slums” & the people are Known as have nots.

RICH MEXICO The upper and middle Class of New Mexico Live much better then Those in the Slums. Middle Class usually Live in apartments or condos, and work in education, business, Or government. Upper Class are mostly working In or are leaders of Business and Government. They hire The poor often. They usually live in luxurious Living conditions & are known As “Haves”.

POOR DETROIT The poor people of Detroit Have a much different Situation then the poor In New Mexico. The poor of Detroit actually Have homes (not very nice Homes, but..) which usually Have electricity, running Water, and slightly Substantial roofs. The problem they face, However Is paying for those services. A lot of the time poor people In Detroit can’t afford to pay Those bills to keep those things Like electricity and water.

RICH DETROIT Even thought Detroit Is not seen in the Best of conditions, homes like these are Actually in very good Conditions and are Sold for a lot of Money. Unfortunately, The rich homes of Detroit are not often Thought of because of How much attention Is brought to the Harder parts of Detroit.
