Background of the Dehko Programme Prepared by the diabetes experts, health care professionals and people with diabetes Approved in January 2000 as the National Diabetes Programme for Finland for objectives 25 action recommendations, of which 10 are key actions Finnish Diabetes Association as initiator, coordinator and responsible for the national sub- projects
Financing Dehko : Governmental resources ( Finnish Slott Machine Association since 1999), in addition corporate partners- in total nearly euros per year FIN-D2D : Public health resourses / Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, Finnish Slott Machine Association, Hospital Districts (5), National Public Health Institute, FDA – in total 1,6 million euros per year
Follow-up and Assessment By 2004 five external assessments of Dehko, next will be done in 2006 Over 40 publications: reports on surveys related to Dehko targits, reports on local, regional and national solutions, Dehko quality criteria, quality meters for diabetes care etc etc Annual Dehko symposia for the key players ( for nearly 200) National Dehko Days ( 2003, 2006, 2008, 2010) Dehko Awards for the best solutions in the health care
Results In the ten-year action programme the result assessment is based on: 1)Reaching the set 15 objectives 2)Implementing all 25 action recommendations 3)Positive health outcomes both in care and prevention of diabetes 4)Changing the direction of the ship permanently
