William C. Coleman Drive Dedication Board of County Commissioners September 24, 2013

William C. Coleman Drive William C. Coleman served in the US Army’s 101 st Airborne Division and was a participant in the Normandy Invasion. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star POW medal, and France’s Legion of Honor medal. He was a POW for almost a year during WWII.

William C. Coleman Drive Florida State Legislature representative Florida’s first Secretary of Transportation Served as U.S. Commissioner of Public Buildings to George W. Bush administration. His passion for American veterans was expressed as an advocate in securing a new VA Hospital complex in Central Florida.

Dedication is a fitting memorial tribute to William C. Coleman, a decorated WWII Veteran. Frontage Road connects Chickasaw Trail to Valencia College Lane. Roadway construction recently completed. No residential or commercial property exists. Changing generic name “Frontage Road” eliminates location confusion. Dedicated name will aid Fire & Rescue Operations in emergencies.
