TECHNOLOGY DEPENDENCY BY DORIAN RICHARD

INTRO For my global geography exam I chose my topic as technology dependency. In this PowerPoint I’ll be showing how much we use technology now and how it’s effecting us in point form so you know the facts.

Cell Phones/mp3 75% of teens, 12-17years old, have a cell phone. 80% of year olds have one. 76% have a mp3 player Youth are spending more time on phones playing games, listening to music and watching videos then talking on them.

TV/Video Games 9,000 students were surveyed in Toronto and 10% said they play 7 or more hours of video games a day. That’s 900 students! 66% of infants-toddlers watch 2 hours of tv a day. Youth, 8-18 years old, spend 4 hours in front of the TV and almost 2 hours on computers and video games. 64% of homes have TV on during supper.

TV/Video games cont. 70% of kids have TV’s in their room and 50% have video games. Only 28% of kids have parental TV rules and 30% have video game use restrictions.

Computers Only 36% of kids have limited computer use. 74% of teens have a social-networking page. 90% of kids age 5-17 use computers.

Health In the U.S. 1 out of 3 kids are considered obese. 47% of heavy-media use kids get “fair” or “poor” grades. 51% of Canadians are overweight. One of the leading causes of obesity is insufficient exercise.

Issues I had to do this project with Technology because we are so dependent on it. We communicate more by texting then face to face. Kids are rarely going outside anymore.
