Two Parts Specification of task The task is the activity or assignment the students are asked to do. Student responses to the task are what is assessed. Performance criteria a specified method of evaluating student performance on the tasks. Methods could include: assignment of points for the "correctness" of responses, checklists of response features, and rating scales...

Good alternative assessments:  Cover the desired content and skills  Have good performance tasks  Have good performance criteria  Are equitable and fair  Lead to positive consequences  Are cost (energy/time) effective
