INTRODUCTION Kota Super Thermal Power Plant is Rajasthan's first major Coal fired Power plant. It is located on the left bank of the Chambal River at upstream of Kota Barrage near Sakatpura,Kota. Construction work for stage-I started in 1977 and first unit of 110 MW was commissioned on 17th Jan The second 110 MW unit was firstly synchronized in July The stage-II units are synchronized in The second unit of second stage was commissioned in Oct After that unit of 210 MW was started in April 11, The commencement of unit VI, in Stage IV started in July, 2001 and the synchronization of the unit was done in July, The commencement of unit VII, in Stage V the synchronization of the unit was done in May, Rajasthan Coal Chambal River The source of Water (cooling for the P.S.) is the reservoir formed by “ Kota Barrage ” on the Chambal River. The water is drawn from this reservoir and after use released near the left main canal of the barrage. The 220 KV GSS is within ½ Kms. from the power station.

BOILER A boiler is a closed vessel in which water under pressure is converted into steam.  A boiler is always designed to absorb maximum amount of heat released in process of combustion.  This is transferred to the boiler by all the three modes of heat transfer i.e. conduction, convection and radiation.

STEAM TURBINE  Turbine is a machine which converts the potential or kinetic energy of the steam into mechanical power by virtue of dynamic action of steam. o Steam Turbine used is mainly of three types-:  FIRST STAGE\HIGH PRESSURE TURBINE  SECOND STAGE\INTERMEDIATE TURBINE  THIRD STAGE\LOW PRESSURE TURBINE

DEaRATOR Dearator is a device which is widely used for the removal of air and other gases from the feed water to steam generating boilers. in particular dissolved oxygen in Boiler feed waters will cause serious corrosion damage in steam system by attaching to the walls of metal piping and other metallic equipment and forming oxides.

Electro Static Precipitator To remove fly ash from flue gases electro static precipitator is used. They have collection efficiency of over 99.5%. The efficiency depends on various Factors such as velocity of flow, quantity of gas, resistivity of ash, voltage of fields, precipitators etc.

220 KV SWICHYARD  To synchronize between load & generator.  Provide constant,reliable,consistent & non fluctuating power supply.

CONCLUSION The first phase of practical training has proved to be quiet fruitful. The architecture of the power plant the way various units are linked and the way working of whole plant is controlled make the student realize that engineering is not just learning the structured description and working of various machines, but the greater part is of planning proper management. However training has proved to be quite fruitful. It has allowed an opportunity to get an exposure of the practical implementation to theoretical fundamentals.
