In 2009 about 180 students graduated from school and %73 of it could enter universities

The other %27 tried their chances the following year and about %20 of them could win the exam this year. As far as we researched the other %7 tried their chances in finding jobs.

Among the ones who entered universities, 9 students entered ELT departmens. 72 students entered fields like engineering, medicine, architecture and 50 students had chances to study at law, psychology, young learners teaching departments etc.

This year %61 of our friends won the university entrance exam. The other %39 couldn’t. As far as e researched that most of the ones couldn’t enter the university because they did mistake when they order the universities in their preference lists. Among the %39 some friends are waiting for the second placement.

This year, 107 students entered universities. Among them, 8 students entered ELT faculties. 64 students decided to take the exam again next year. 67 students are now students at engineering, medicine, architecture, biology, nursing departments. 32 of them are at psychocolgy, turkish literature ans some other social science departments.

We think the lowering in the success in entering the universities this year is due to the changes in the university entrance exams. The students didn’t know what to do. Last year and in the previous year, students were chosen via one university entrance exam. However, this year they had two exams, one in April and one in June. And also most of the students who couldn’t go to university, hadn’t been able to prefer the universities in other cities because of the financial problems. Poor families can’t send their children to other cities from İstanbul. They are afraid that they can’t afford the expenses.
