A political system in which nobles, or lords, are granted the use of lands that legally belong to the king in return for loyalty and military service to the king. For example Europe during Middle Ages.

A government based on the system of rewards and punishments. For example in China under Qin Shi Huangdi.

A government that has unlimited power and uses it in an arbitrary manner. For example Qin Shi Huangdi.

A government ruled by single by a person, called a king. For example, Hugh Capet.

A government ruled by a small group of noble, landowning families. For example in Athens.
