As a Teacher The media specialist can help teach critical thinking skills and problem solving skills through the various interactions with students and teachers. n428l.jpg

Media Specialists as Teachers in Action MS can offer tutorials for classes about how to use the media center’s materials and sources by giving demonstrations, offering presentations, and posing questions to student inquiries, getting them to think about the best resources and paths to take. essman_doing_research_in_a_library_full_of_an_unorganized_mess_of_c olorful_stacked_books.jpg

As a Program Administrator A media center that allows all patrons to explore, communicate, learn, enjoy, research, and grow intellectually and aesthetically is one that helps student achievement jpg

Media Specialists as Program Administrators in Action A MS is an advocate for the school and all of it’s goals; the MS has the unique capability to provide programs that are knowledgeable and visionary. The MS has the leadership to steer the media program creatively and energetically.

As an Information Specialist To improve student achievement, the MS provides information resources. The MS offers awareness of informational issues to teachers, administrators, and students. The MS introduces strategies for locating, accessing, and evaluating information within and beyond the library media center.

Media Specialist as an Information Specialist in Action MS can recognize resources and materials that might be useful to all the patrons of the school. The MS can provide insight to the many facets of learning. library-week-animation-graphic.gif

As an Instructional Partner The MS works closely with individual teachers in the critical area of designing authentic learning tasks and assessments by helping to integrate information and communication to meet the subject matter standards. content/uploads/2009/08/HyperlinkedHouston.png
