X-Machines (8 x 60’) ‘X-Machines’ takes a look at the largest and most technologically advanced machines from around the world. Visually stunning, the series shows how they work and documents both the ingenuity of the project management teams and the skills of those who operate them. Witness in action Beluga, one of the most bizarre looking aircraft. Named after the whale it resembles, it is one of the world’s biggest ever super-flying transporters, and its massive deck has an area of 1,400 cubic metres. Other episodes feature Nemo – a futuristic submersible exploration vehicle that can dive to depths of over 900 metres – and Iceking, Canada’s largest icebreaking machine. Storm Chasers (9 x 60’ + 1 x 120’) Extreme meteorologist Reed Timmer, IMAX filmmaker Sean Casey and veteran chaser Tim Samaras are back, tracking the monster tornadoes that made headlines in a new series of 'Storm Chasers'. The teams witnessed at first hand the infamous tornado outbreak of April 27, 2011, when nearly 200 tornadoes were recorded and over 300 lives lost in just a single day. Exclusive, never- before-seen footage, combined with meteorological expertise and years of chasing experience piece together a day unprecedented in history. In addition, the new series features new chase vehicles, including the debut of Timmer's 'Dominator 2', and cutting-edge research tools such as sophisticated radar equipment and air cannons.
