The Writing Process How to write a good essay
Prewriting BRAINSTORM – Anything goes – Jot down any ideas you have Select a topic Write ideas that support that topic Narrow down your ideas – Maybe some go together Outline
Drafting Write your essay! – Don’t worry about spelling, just begin writing your paragraphs – Don’t worry about a title – Don’t worry about how pretty it is – JUST WRITE
Revising Now, make it sound good – Do you have paragraphs? – Check to make sure you have all the good stuff you need – Is it convincing? – Is it in a good order? – DOES IT MAKE SENSE?
Editing Now, use spell check, have someone look it over for punctuation and nitty gritty stuff – Specific formatting things, correct words
Publishing This is where you “polish” your writing – Make it sound and look good – Check for errors
