Who Moved My Cheese? Effective Communication Methods Presented by Jessie Massey Book by Dr. Spencer Johnson

Introduction This book is written for all ages and offers unique insights that can last a lifetime It is a simple parable that reveals profound truths It is an amazing way to deal with change in your work and in your life

Summary This story is about four characters who live in a “Maze” and look for “cheese” to nourish them and make them happy. Two are mice named Sniff and Scurry and two are “Littlepeople”, Hem and Haw, being the size of mice who look and act a lot like people. In the story, the characters are faced with unexpected change and eventually one of them deals with this change successfully and writes what he has learned from his experiences on the Maze walls After seeing the writing you can discover for yourself how to deal with change so that you can enjoy less stress and more success in work and in life!

Characters Who do you think you are? Sniff- who sniffs out change early Scurry- who scurries into action Hem- who denies and resists change as he fears it will lead to something worse Haw- who learns to adapt in time when he sees changing can lead to something better Who do you think you are?

What does the cheese represent? Something that you think you need to be happy One example is wanting material things Another example is enjoying good health or developing a spiritual sense of well-being

Strategies for successful change Change Happens- They keep moving with the cheese. The more important your cheese is to you the more you want to hold onto it. You need to be flexible and understand change happens. Anticipate Change- Get ready for the cheese to more. Having your cheese makes you happy so be aware of when change is coming so you can adapt to the new situation.

Monitor Change- Smell the cheese often so you know when it is getting old. Stay alert and expect change to happen and look for it. Trust your instincts to sense change and be ready to adapt to it. Adapt to Change Quickly- The quicker you let go of old cheese, the sooner you can enjoy new cheese. If you do not change you become extinct. Change- Move with the cheese. Movement in a new direction will help you find your new cheese.

Enjoy Change- Savor the adventure and enjoy the taste of new cheese Enjoy Change- Savor the adventure and enjoy the taste of new cheese. When you see that you can find and enjoy new cheese you change your course. Be Ready to Change Quickly and Enjoy it Again and Again- They keep moving the cheese. If you notice small changes early it help you adapt to the bigger changes that are to come. Move with the cheese and enjoy it!

Great Quotes “The biggest inhibitor to change lies within yourself, and that nothing gets better until you change.” “Change is happening everywhere and you will do better when you can adjust to it quickly.” “It is a lot better to initiate change while you can than it is to react and adjust to it.”
