 A Flag was passed from the Mayor of Beijing to the Mayor of London  The Torch Relay – the torch will be lit in Olympia and will make an international journey before arriving in the UK  Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be memorable

 The Olympics will use a mixture of new and existing venues historic and temprorary facilities  The 2012 Olympics and Paralympics in London will be located in an Olympic zone around Stratford in East London  The Olympic zone is divided into three zones: the Central Zone, the Olympic Park Zone and the River Zone

 Requires numerous improvements  The London Underground will transport spectators to the Olympic venues  One of the goals is to reduce traffic levels, for example ticketholders would be entitled to free use of London’s public transportation network on the day of the event
