Sound-bites from Yesterday’s Workshop There is a change process necessary for both providers and patients Patients have rights and responsibilities Who are right representatives – who decides who are the real citizens? How to stop only the loudest being heard? For some aspects of quality and safety, a paternalistic approach is still necessary One of the aims is more compliance and more satisfaction of the patient Treatment choices include the right to refuse treatment Need to educate the public that empowerment might mean higher taxes Someone has to pay the bill
