Cost Primarily Agency coordination Schedule Basic infrastructure is already in place Technical Data will be what Industry is currently using Programmatic Basic infrastructure is already in place Total ROM Cost (non-CS) = $xx Description:Benefits: Schedule/Costs:Risks: Red, Yellow, or Green Lead Center/PI: Phillip Callen/JSC Center Funding: JSC-$xxx0K Non-NASA Organizations/Procurements: CALCE CS FTE =0.2 Deliverables: The proposed NEPP activity of MEMs/MOEMNanotechnology investigation and research combined with the ongoing JSC activities provide a single source of MEMs/MOEMS/NANO technologies and TRL levels. Significant functionality, cost, and weight will be achieved with use of these technologies; however, significant issues associated with the maturation process need to be addressed in a coordinated manner, across the Agency, which this task will pursue. Continuous updates to the database of investigation and research activities will be documented at MEMS Development TIMs will define the key elements of an end-to-end development and certification process. TRO on findings for near term technology. Determine current status of MEMS and Nanotechnology worldwide and develop MEMS and nano catalog to facilitate injection/interaction of designers with MEMS/nano community. Establish cooperative framework with external organizations to utilize their expertise. Develop training capability to familiarize personnel with the technology and demonstrate benefits to NASA. Identify the processes, issues, and capabilities required to develop MEMS in order to increase TRLs and certification to support flight projects. Continue to develop the inter-center MEMS and Nanotechnology Working Group (MNWG) to enhance synergistic development and collaboration. The proposed NEPP activity is the augmentation of ongoing MEMS/NANO technology data gathering activities. The combined outcome of NEPP and existing investigation and research activities is the cataloging of industry available data and associated TRL. MEMS/MOEMS/NANO Technology Continuation for FY06 ( MEMS)

Formulate plan for determining relevant testing, qualification, and certification results and requirements for MEMS devices Lay out end-to-end MEMS development process Begin data collection (extensive knowledge both within and outside of NASA) Build Development Area on website to capture data unique to MEMS in order to facilitate the process for designing, producing, or certifying MEMS devices Enhance and upgrade website with new capabilities (Version 3.0)  Add to Center projects database  Add to MEMS Device database  Add new educational resources to website  Add additional Special Interest Groups (SIG)  Build Nanotechnology Device database  Build forum capability to communication and collaboration  Promote the use of the MEMS “virtual” network by forging collaborations between researchers/developers and projects FY06 Plans MEMS/MOEMS/Nano Technology
