Microscope Information 1. Arm 2. Stage Clips 3. Coarse Adjustment Knob 4. Fine Adjustment Knob 5. Eyepiece 6. Body Tube 7. Nosepiece 8. High Power Objective 9. Low Power Objective 10. Stage 11. Diaphragm 12. Light Source 13. Base Microscopes are used to magnify specimens that are too small to see with the unaided eye.

Functions: 1. Light Source – (D) provides light for viewing specimen 2. Stage – (B) Supports the slide 3. Stage Clips – (I) Hold slide in place 4. Coarse Adjustment Knob – (F) brings image into initial focus 5. Fine Adjustment Knob – (A) sharpens focus 6. Diaphragm – (C) Controls the amount of light passing through the stage 7. High Power Objective Lens – (H) 40X or 43X magnification 8. Low Power Objective Lens – (G) 10X magnification 9. Revolving Nosepiece – (E) Holds the objectives and can be rotated to change magnification.

Microscope Information Carry a microscope with one hand under the base and one hand on the arm. ARM BASE

Microscope Information Clean microscope lenses with lens paper only. LENSES

Total Magnification: Eyepiece (10X) x Low Power Objective (10X) = 100 X Eyepiece (10X) x High Power Objective (43X) = 430X Field of View: Area within the circle of light

How to Focus A Microscope: 1.Lower Stage using C.A.K. 2.“Click” low power obj. in place 3.Put slide on stage; secure w/ stage clips 4.Raise stage using C.A.K. until it can no longer move 5.Look through eyepiece & slowly roll the C.A.K. down until specimen appears. 6.Use F.A.K. to sharpen image To View Under High Power: 1.Use rev. nosepiece to switch to high power obj. lens 2.Adjust slide on stage until specimen is in field of view 3.ONLY use F.A.K. to focus image
