WHAT IS A MIXTURE? Two or more materials of differing properties mixed or stirred together

SOLUTIONS Solutions are a special type of mixture in which particles (solute) are dissolved in a solvent (usually H 2 O). These particles are not permanently changed when in solution. A solution forms when a material dissolves in a liquid. The material cannot be retrieved using a filter or a screen but can be retrieved by evaporation of the solvent (H 2 O) in which it is dissolved.

MORE ABOUT MIXTURES... A solution is always a mixture. A mixture can be a solution. Crystal: a solid form of a substance that has a specific shape and properties. Evaporation: occurs when a liquid is changed into a gas.
