Name of Museum People in Ancient Egypt were put in tombs upon their death to take people to the next world. King Tut was buried in a tomb with four rooms filled with objects he would need in the next world. His tomb was discovered in 1922 by Howard Carter. His tomb was in the Valley of the Kings across the river Thebe. King Tut was buried with some of his family. The treasures in King Tut’s tomb were remarkable and he wasn’t even an important king. Imagine what would be in a great pharaoh’s tomb. King Tut’s tomb shows that ancient Egypt was an important civilization because of all the art. Introduction Back to Room 1

Name of Museum King Tut’s tomb has three main items of art demonstrating that Ancient Egypt was a complex civilization. The colorful chest is one of the beautiful pieces of artwork found in King Tut’s tomb. The chest is wooden with paintings of battle scenes, inside there is a pair of sandals in great condition and royal robes that would fit a small boy. The golden mask is one of the most famous pieces of art in King Tut’s tomb. The mask is made out of two sheets of gold molded to fit the king’s head. The mask is decorated with blue, black, red and white stones. King Tut has a cloth draped over his head and shoulders. There is a royal vulture and cobra on his head and a fake beard on his chin. There is a shrine inside King Tut’s tomb. This golden shrine with beautiful carvings once held a statue of King Tut but the statue was stolen by tomb robbers. Clearly, these pieces of art prove that Ancient Egypt was a complex civilization. Body Paragraph Back to Room 2
