Bolsheviks and Propaganda

Propaganda Propaganda is a type of message aimed directly at influencing the opinions or behavior of the people rather than conveying them the whole truth. Propaganda wants people to do or act a certain way. Propaganda mostly appears in the form of newspapers, slogans, leaflets, songs, or posters. Usually propaganda aims to entice ideas of works within religions, politics, and economic purposes. These propaganda posters represent the ideas during a certain period of time. By studying propaganda posters, we can know and learn what the people in history were thinking, were forced to think, or how the government wanted them to think or act.

“The symbol of peace – symbol of socialism.” The first poster presents the image of Vladimir Lenin appearing as the “sun” shining on a tower in the Soviet Union and a Parliament building. By putting Lenin’s face on the sun represents that Lenin is the new hope of Russia and is a great Communist leader. According to the quote, the purpose of the poster is to introduce people to the idea of Socialism. When Socialism is achieved, peace would occur. Gold color was used to attract the attention of the citizens with its warm message of a new hope and peace of the nation.

The Propaganda Poster Project For this project you will be one of 4 types of Russians. Farmers Factory Workers Soldiers Unemployed persons

What you must create: Based on what we have discussed and seen, you will create a poster rallying people to support the Revolution.

Visuals You will use at least 3 visuals that are specific to your groups’ concerns. For Example, if you are a soldier, use visuals that relate to the many costly wars the Czar participated in, or the issues that you had with his treatment of soldiers.

Slogan Having a catchy saying is one way to have people unite for a common cause. No you cannot use Land Peace and Bread!

Explanation On the back of your propaganda piece you will give me a paragraph explaining why you chose the visuals you used and explain your slogan.
