What is body image? Body image is a subjective picture of one's own physical appearance established both by self- observation and by noting the reactions of others.

Somatotypes (Body Types) Ectomorph – characteristics include long, lean, little fat and muscle, may have tough time gaining weight. Endomorph – characterized as having a broad shoulders and wide hips, may gain weight easily, does not necessarily have to be overweight. Mesomorph – characteristics include athletic, solid, strong, can gain muscle easily * While a person can gain or lose weight, it does not change their somatotype though they may look different. We all have different shapes and sizes to our body. Eat right, exercise and take care of our body so that you can be confident and embrace your own body!
So...how to we accept and embrace our physical appearance and create a positive body image? 1. All bodies come in different shapes and sizes. Your body depends on things such as gender and heredity, things that you cannot control. 2. Focus on what you like about yourself. 3. Avoid comparing yourself to unrealistic ideals. 4. Spend time with people like an appreciate you. 5. Show that you value yourself by taking care of your body and mind. Eat well, get plenty of rest and exercise, and do things that you enjoy.
