Presentation transcript:

Whereas Research recognition gives CRA standing (organizationally and individually) that no other organization can match Membership in CRA is institutional rather than individual, which allows institutions to act collectively to address pipeline issues Pipeline is important for graduate education There is a coupling between undergraduate education and the health of the research enterprise It is important for the research community to be engaged in education The computing educational community is highly fragmented

Points of Agreement CRA needs to be involved in education. If education becomes a priority for CRA, then it will encourage CRA members to make it a priority. There is not currently a forum that includes all members of the CSEd community. Organizational (ACM/IEEE, etc) Top-tier/non-toptier

Recommendations Establish CRA-E –Forum for discussion about educational/curricular issues –Synergies with education and science communities for policy –Voice for education within CRA initiatives –Address common pipeline issues Alternate Snowbird with Snowbird-E Seek a way to involve more of its member organizations in educational issues

Take Home Points To give more weight to education in its involvement with CRA. (ACM Council) Reach out to CRA for input on educational matters. (Societies)
