Fun Facts  One of the first 13 colonies  Founded in 1664 by Lord Berkeley and Sir George Carteret.  Became a Became Royal Colony in the year 1702  New Jersey was named for Jersey, the largest of the British Channel Islands, Carteret was born on Jersey and served as its Lieutenant Governor for several years.
