What is my role as an MCSAC member?

A member is a non-faculty, staff member appointed or elected to represent a designated area of VUMC. A member is expected to be engaged and actively participate in discussions and functions of MCSAC and gather/disseminate information with their constituent groups. Time commitment of a member typically will not exceed three hours per month. This includes one full council meeting, one committee meeting and time to share information and solicit feedback from represented area. Time spent on activities directly related to the purpose of the MCSAC and in the role of a member is considered work time and should be paid as such. Who is a member?

Attend MCSAC meeting of all representatives Participate on at least one standing committee Represent the area which selected to serve Voice the concerns of one’s constituency of staff employees Communicate MCSAC news, discussion, and action back to constituency group. Member Responsibilites

MCSAC Committees Staff Life Events Communication Rules/Administration

Staff Life Committee This committee is responsible for: investigating issues of staff concern through such means as surveying the membership researching issues of staff concern prioritizing the issues of staff concern recommending for the council’s consideration a specific course of action when appropriate

Events Committee This committee is responsible for: coordinating volunteers when requests are made for council participation facilitating council sponsored activities such as the Needles and Pins, Employee Celebration, etc.

Communication Committee This committee is responsible for: gathering and publishing information to membership maintaining list of current membership maintaining web site providing recommendations on improvements to communication

Rules/Administration Committee This committee is responsible for: recommending changes to Charter as needed overseeing selection of new members ensuring that activities are procedurally consistent with Charter
