© March 9, 2004 Novell Inc. 5 GroupWise for Linux Current version is Beta 3 Based on GroupWise ® 6.5 SP1 Includes all GW components: Agents, Gateways, Client, GW Instant Messenger, WebAccess

© March 9, 2004 Novell Inc. 6 GroupWise for Linux What’s missing: [insert features not yet included]

© March 9, 2004 Novell Inc. 7 Basic Background Recommended Our recommendation is that the administrator be familiar with basic Linux commands. Even better, we recommend LPI certification.

© March 9, 2004 Novell Inc. 8 Basic Commands & Concepts gettext bzip2 tar./install-program-name xhost + localhost /mnt

© March 9, 2004 Novell Inc. 9 Installation Directories GroupWise agent software is installed to: /opt/novell/groupwise/bin (executables) /opt/novell/groupwise/lib directories Agent startup files are copied to: /opt/novell/groupwise/agents

© March 9, 2004 Novell Inc. 10 GroupWise Scripts Startup grpwise script in: /etc/rc.d Starts the MTA and POA automatically on reboot Install creates a symbolic link: S99grpwise in the /etc/rc5.d directory Loads agents into level 5 on restart Understand the concept of levels

© March 9, 2004 Novell Inc. 11 GroupWise Scripts You can create your own scripts to start and stop the agents so that you don't need to reboot the server. Recommended path is /opt/novell/groupwise/agents/bin or any convinient directory. Should be in a directory that is on your path. To find out what directories are on your path: env | grep PATH

© March 9, 2004 Novell Inc. 12 Example Startup Script l/groupwise/agents/share/LnxDom.MT

© March 9, 2004 Novell Inc. 13 GWIA The GW system in which you install the GWIA must meet these requirements: Domain version must be same or newer then the GWIA version (Delano is based on GW6.5 SP1). The versions of any post office that the IA will access on behalf of POP3 or IMAP4 clients must be equal to or newer than the IA's version. A post offices version is determined by the POA version running against it. The GWIA install installs the agent to /opt/novell/groupwise/agents/bin

© March 9, 2004 Novell Inc. 14 GWIA Additional properties added through Console1 are updated or added to: gwia.cfg located in /opt/novell/groupwise/share directory. Open the default Linux shell for root (.bashrc in the /root directory) and add: export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=../lib This tells the IA where to locate the INSO viewer files (What are these?)

© March 9, 2004 Novell Inc. 15 Starting GWIA If Sendmail or Postfix is enabled on your Linux server, disable it before starting the IA. If you will use the IA for POP3 and IMAP4 mail, make sure no POP3 or IMAP4 daemons are running on the Linux server. From the /opt/novell/groupwise/share/bin directory run (you must be root in the shell you are using):./gwia -show

© March 9, 2004 Novell Inc. 16 Testing GWIA After starting the GWIA: Open a new mail message in the GroupWise client In the To: field enter your Internet address using the following syntax: Send the message and check your mailbox to verify you received it

© March 9, 2004 Novell Inc. 17 WebAccess Apache2 Web server Java SDK Tomcat4 servlet engine Jakarta connector All are installed on your Linux server when you install the WebAccess application (and WebPublisher). Oh, by the way, you can still use IIS. It's all about choice isn't it.

© March 9, 2004 Novell Inc. 18 Install Directory The install copies the WebAccess software to: /opt/novell/groupwise/webacc directory

© March 9, 2004 Novell Inc. 19 Added Configuration Task Copy commgr.cfg from: gw_domain_directory/wpgate/webacc to /opt/novell/groupwise/webacc/webaccess and to /opt/novell/groupwise/webacc/webpubliser In both cases make sure that commgr.cfg is copied in lower case.

© March 9, 2004 Novell Inc. 20 Example cp gw_domain_directory/wpgate/webacc/COMMGR.CFG /opt/novell/groupwise/webacc/webaccess/commgr.cfg
