Value Added Feature Fault Tolerance Scenarios

Fault Tolerance Three scenarios can be faced with the Proposed architecture.  Ideal Working scenario  Local Server Failure  Main server Failure

Scenario 1

Scenario 2

Scenario 3

Value Added Feature Fault Tolerance Demonstration

Value Added Feature TDE (Transparent Data Encryption)

 Encryption brings data into a state that cannot be interpreted by anyone who does not have access to the decryption key, password, or certificates.  To meet the demands of regulatory compliance and corporate data security standards, SQL Server allows you to enable this encryption at the database level.  Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) is a feature introduced in SQL Server 2008 and available in later versions for bulk encryption at the database file level (data file, log file and backup file) i.e. the entire database at rest.

Value Added Feature Independent ep.gov.pk

 In existing application the ep.gov.pk is dependent to the central server database directly.  If the central server goes down the database related features like track, tariff etc will not be available on website  We have implemented replication services to transfer the required data on the website itself.  Security was the major concern for taking EP website out of post intranet.  ep.gov.pk will be independent of EMTTS Application onwards

Smart Router As Service

 Smart Router is implemented as Service on an independent Hosting  How it works: Checks all resources of primary and DR site and log the statuses Notifies the concerned authorities in case of any issue If Primary server goes down, redirect traffic to DR site Can also be used to deploy new releases/ enhancements with ZERO downtime for users allow us to make the application IP and location independent, Its easy to move /transfer servers as and when required. I To ensure security and future needs, static IP will be assigned to each location

Deployment Deployment Strategy

 Adaptation of web based application is a challenge  Deployment of New Application all over POST may not be a good idea.  Deployment to be done in phases

Phase 1 Phase 2Phase 3Phase 4 BO Deployment 24 BO locations deployments New to Old BO integration Deployment strategy Old Application as backup DMO Deployment DMO locations deployment New to Old DMO integration Old Application as backup Remove old BO application DO Deployment DO locations deployment New to Old DO integration Old Application as backup Remove old DMO application Remove Old Desktop and Web application

Pre Requisite of Deployment  Application Configuration: Names of Locations/Offices Hierarchy of Offices e.g., the region wise, city wise, postal division wise distribution of post offices Users of the system Role of Users Rates/charges of the services  Data Migration & verification Data import activity from Existing EMTTS Database to New Database that will be done by 360 Technologies Cleansing of imported data activity will be done by 360 Technologies  Training : The deployment and training plan will be conducted in phase wise and incremental approach keeping in view the scope of the geographical distribution of locations and modular application, the gradual deployment strategy will be followed 33

REVAMPED EMTTS WEB APPLICATION

Web Application Components  The Revamped EMTTS Web Application has following main components User Management Module Locations/ Offices Hierarchy Tariff Management Management Console BO Module DMO Module DO Module DA Module

FUTURE RECOMMENDATIONS

Future Recommendations  Analyzing the business and technical requirements of Pakistan Post, we recommend CIR (Committed Information Rate) in place of 4Mb DSL due to below mentioned reasons: DSL is not reliable Fluctuation in response/information rate. CIR is a standard for Applications running on intranet within Internet  Static IP’s mentioned in Network Infrastructure are also used in CIR.  Group All Application to make single Suit of Post Applications with single sign-on functionality  Build BI/DSS for complete Suit to provide give complete big picture for Top and Middle management

Suggestions  Devise a streamlined payment mechanism  Close Monitoring for Enhanced Delivery  Support in smooth roll out and training  Follow Standard of Delivery  Expand Delivery Agents Networks  Expansion of EMTTS location  Close Monitoring of CMS.  Assurance of in time Complaint resolution 39
