First Grade Homework for the week of: February 23 – February 27, 2015 Cinderella Spelling Words You are an important part of your child’s success! Monday: Write spelling words two times each. Read the first story and word list on the back using skills learned today. Tuesday: Write spelling words two times each. Read both stories and word list on the back Wednesday: Write spelling words two times each. Read both stories and word list on the back for continued practice. Thursday: Read stories and words on back for continued practice. Prepare for spelling test tomorrow. AA Announcements: Parents, your child will continue to bring home practice math drills. They should now be able to complete the 20 daily facts within 3 minutes. Keep these at home and return them on Friday. Remember, as they continue to master these basic math facts the time given to complete them will be reduced again. Please check their work. Peaches and Cream Bill Tried Read Story #1 Tuesday - Thursday skill: ea #1 Bea lives by a tree on a farm. She eats meals of bread and peas. In summer, ripe peaches gleam on Bea’s tree. Bea takes a big breath and leaps up. But she can’t reach them. Bea sends a note to Dean. “Dear Dean, Please have tea with me at my tree.” Bea asks, “Can you get the peaches?” Is Dean’s beak sharp enough? No. The peaches must be meant to stay on the tree. Bea uses her head when Daisy sneaks by. Bea speaks to her. “Can you get the peaches?” Daisy gets up in the tree and beats on the branch. Peaches fall in a heap. Bea beams. Bea, Dean, and Daisy have a feast. Peaches and cream are a real treat. Bill Tried Read Story #2 Tuesday - Thursday #2 skill: change y to i Bill and his wife cleaned Bill’s shed.
