Copyright 2007, Information Builders. Slide 1 Performance, Scalability, and Reliability With iWay Software Mark Nesson June, 2008

Agenda  How to achieve Performance with iSM  Vertical and/or Horizontal Scaling  Managed Servers  Enterprise Edition  Document Sizes and Complexity  Excel Preparser  32 vs. 64 bit  In process vs. Out of process  iWay deployment within Tomcat  iWay deployment within any application server :  WAS, JBOSS, BEA, SUN APP, ect.. Copyright 2007, Information Builders. Slide 2

iWay deployment within Tomcat  In iSM SP2, you can now deploy your entire configuration using the Deployment Manager option on the console.  The WAR deployment allows you to interact with the console under your Web or App Server.  You say I can interact with the console; Which console is that?  The white console.  Will I need iSM to be running once I’ve deployed?  No, unless a request is made to consume an iWay Business services. Copyright 2007, Information Builders. Slide 3

iWay deployment under Tomcat  This test channel contains file listener(not shown) and a very simple pflow that copies the input to the output.  A file listener is used for simplicity. You can substitute with any other listener. Copyright 2007, Information Builders. Slide 4

iWay deployment under Tomcat  I’ve deployed the channel  I’ve also deployed the pflow as an iSM web-service Copyright 2007, Information Builders. Slide 5

iWay deployment under Tomcat  Create the WAR file. Copyright 2007, Information Builders. Slide 6 Click Here to start the process

iWay deployment under Tomcat  Choose your Options Copyright 2007, Information Builders. Slide 7 This plus the config name will be the name of the war file.

iWay deployment under Tomcat  Choose the SREGs you want to include in the war file Copyright 2007, Information Builders. Slide 8 Click to create the war file.

iWay deployment under Tomcat Copyright 2007, Information Builders. Slide 9  The file is ready to be downloaded and deployed Name is the chosen name concatenated with the config name. Click to download.

iWay deployment under Tomcat  Deploying in Tomcat Copyright 2007, Information Builders. Slide 10 Click to deploy.

iWay deployment under Tomcat  It’s Deployed!!! Copyright 2007, Information Builders. Slide 11

iWay deployment under Tomcat  To start   Or click the link on the Tomcat console Copyright 2007, Information Builders. Slide 12

iWay deployment under Tomcat  Testing the channel with the file listener and pflow. Copyright 2007, Information Builders. Slide 13 Success!!.

iWay deployment under Tomcat  Now lets try the web service Copyright 2007, Information Builders. Slide 14

iWay deployment under Tomcat  It fails because it is trying to call to iSM which is down. Copyright 2007, Information Builders. Slide 15

iWay deployment under Tomcat  Need to update the web.xml with an ibsp init-param Copyright 2007, Information Builders. Slide 16 ibsp er_port

iWay deployment under Tomcat  Allows SM to run iWay Business Services within the application container  Otherwise SM needs to be up and running Copyright 2007, Information Builders. Slide 17

iWay deployment under J2EE/J2SE Fault Tolerant and Performance  Apache Web Server  Clustered Tomcat Application Severs with iSM running as a Web Application  Connecting to clustered iWay Data Servers  Is it doable?  Absolutely, Let me show you how its accomplished.  SM sp2 Only Copyright 2007, Information Builders. Slide 18

iWay deployment under J2EE/J2SE Fault Tolerant and Performance  Software load redirector intercepts the iWay Business service  Update the httpd.conf using mod_jk  JkMount /advisoryfinalbase/* loadbalancer  JkMount /advisoryfinalbase loadbalancer  Workers.properties  Show the configuration file  Vertical Scaling Horizontal Scaling  Two Tomcat Application Servers running in parallel  C:\apache-tomcat  SERVER1  SERVER2 Copyright 2007, Information Builders. Slide 19

iWay deployment under J2EE/J2SE Fault Tolerant and Performance  iWay Data Sever/Servers running on any platform  Oracle RAC (Oracle Real Application Clusters)  iWay Workload Distribution Module  Most advanced Workload Distribution available today.  Multiple Query Dispatch Methods  Smart, Random, Round Robin, Weighted  Autonomic Architecture  Monitoring  Information Builders  Providing Fault Tolerance, Performance and Scalability Copyright 2007, Information Builders.
