The story of the poem: Sheers describes the present day Mamtez Wood. As farmers plough the fields, they often discover bodies of WW1 soldiers. Sheers graphically describes the bodies / skeletons. Sheers reflects on how these men have been forgotten.

The poem makes us think about… Remembrance. ‘Forgetting’ those who died. The graphic, brutal nature of death in war.
