Why would a chemical engineer use maths? By Anna Olorunniji

Introduction What does a chemical engineer do? A chemical engineer design and develops the processes that make a large range of products. They mainly focus on changing the chemical, biochemical and physical state of a substance to turn it in to something different. One example of chemical engineering is using oil to make plastic. Why did I choose chemical engineering ? I choose chemical engineering because i knew that engineers used maths I their jobs so when i search “Why would an engineer use maths” into Google it came up with how an mechanical, electrical and chemical engineer uses maths. I had heard of both a mechanical and electrical engineer before but I had never heard of a chemical engineer. So I decide to use a chemical engineer for this project.

What maths skills are needed for chemical engineering? Calculus Multivariable calculus Differential equations Linear algebra Geometry Trigonometry Statistics

What do chemical engineers use maths for ? Chemical engineers use maths for the planning and theoretical modelling of the production processes and analysis that takes place on a computer or in preliminary reports. Chemicals mainly use maths when they are in the lab.

Conclusion Chemical engineering is an aspect of engineering that not many people know about i found it quite interesting learning about it, though information was hard to find. I have learnt that chemical engineering is very complicated.
