 The Three Gorges Dam is a hydroelectric dam.  It is also one of the world’s largest power stations.

 The Three Gorges dam is located in China.  The dam spans the Yangtze River which is close to the town of Sndouping  It is located in the Yiling Disrtict in Yichang, Hubei Province. The Three Gorges Dam

 Height- 181m.  Base Width- 115m.  length- 2,335m.  Has Ship Lift on one side of the Dam too.

 For electricity(power), navigation and also to control/prevent floods.  Mainly for floods.  Many devastating floods have happened in China.

 The Three Gorges Dam was built on December 14,  It was open during 2008 and constructing it cost $26 billion US Dollars.  Its Official name is 长江三峡水利枢纽工程 (Yangtze River Three Gorges Project)

 The Three Gorges Dam actually saves a lot of power.  This Dam reduces use of coal by 31 million tons per year  also avoiding 100 million tons of greenhouse gas being released
