AAVP 2011 – Wrap-up Dr. Marco de Vos – ASTRON Managing Director

Overall impression - Great progress on all technical areas - Great interaction -New people immersed in the AA community - Gradual cohesion on science requirements -Community is busy with PathFinders/PreCursors - Many top-level issues still open -Risk that we close our eyes for some realities - Planning highly uncertain -Especially for verification systems

What’s needed - From the SPO: - Collaborative leadership - Courage and competence to make choices and face the consequences - From the science community: - Write up what has been concluded here - Continue to bring coherence, seek broad support - From the engineering teams: - Write up what has been concluded here - Combine and conclude: integrate the good work, prepare for tough decisions on top-level issues.

Position of ASTRON Community asked us to take the lead for the AA Consortium in the Pre-Construction Phase ASTRON will continue to live up to his AA-low and AA-mid Facilitating collaboration Integrating concepts and ideas Bringing in reality checks

Position of ASTRON Jan-Gerald bij de Vaate taking the initiative for setting up the AA SoW with SPO Supported by Ilse van Bemmel for science link Interacting by Andre Gunst an SPO side Facilitating, integrating => Needs your support Making choices, bringing in reality => Will lead to some contention

SKA1... SKA2 Connecting Industry and Science in the SKA CISS.nl
