Definition :]  Ballad is a poem that tells a story similar to a folk tale or legend and often has a repeated refrain.  The second and fourth lines of each verse rhyme.  The basic form for ballads is iambic heptameter (seven sets of unstressed, stressed syllables per line), in sets of four.
