Write in your agenda:  Metacognition  Independent Reading  Writing  Homework: Read for AR, bring library book! WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2013

 When I think about what I am thinking I am using Metacognition.  I will read to you a book called Heatwave. We will practice our metacognition together.  As I read I want you to complete the thinking stems. METACOGNITION

 As you read today I want you to practice your metacognition or thinking about your thinking.  You will read and complete the second box of your reader’s response. As you read today what questions did you have about what you read?  We stay in our seats and do not talk! Everyone is reading silently! INDEPENDENT/GUIDED READING

 Use the picture to help you visualize. Focus on using correct spelling, capitalization and punctuation, as well as, improved vocabulary. Include a good beginning, middle and end. WRITING

What questions come to mind when you see this picture? Use your metacognition anchor chart to brainstorm your thoughts on notebook paper in your binder behind “My Writing” tab. Now use your thoughts to a write a story relating to the picture.
