Early Life Born March 31, 1928 in Floral, Saskatchewan Fifth of Nine children Father worked as a construction worker, mechanic, and a laborer Very ill as a kid due to lack of a proper nutrition Suffered through the Great Depression Shy and awkward
School Went to school in Floral, Saskatchewan and later in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Did not go to college Finished High School in Omaha, Nebraska – Graduated from a Canadian High School
What did he do? Started skating at age 5 Practiced using pucks, tennis balls, and even clumps of dirt Not very good at skating. Didn’t make a hockey team until he was 12 years old!
