Presentation transcript:

How many layers do you think the ocean has? The ocean has exactly 5 layers!

The Sunlight Zone Very first layer The water is more clear than the others Has direct sunlight The warmest layer Most animal and plant life found here Some animals include: crabs, coral reef, variety of fish, and jellyfish

Twilight Zone Middle of water Barely any sunlight See glowing lights of creatures Variety of weird creatures Creatures have bigger eyes here so they can see through the darkness

Midnight Zone Third layer Dark- only light comes from creatures Freezing temperature Makes up 90% of the ocean Bacteria live here No plants can live down here Very close to the Earth’s crust Some exotic animals include: angler fish, sea cucumber, and snipe eel.

Example of Midnight Zone Finding Nemo

Abyssal Zone Pitch black- no light at all Not many creatures down here Freezing temperatures Ocean floor is within this zone Some creatures found here are tiny squids.

The Trenches Very last layer Very bottom of the ocean Cold temperatures like the Abyssal Zone In trenches (ditches) and in canyons at the bottom of the ocean Very little animal life Starfish and tube worms are found here
