HIBERNATION Hibernation is when animals go into deep, deep sleep for the winter

WHY do animals hibernate?? Animals hibernate during the winter to survive cold weather. Their bodies go into a deep sleep to preserve energy to make it through the cold season. Without hibernation, many animals could not survive!

MIGRATION Migration is the movement of a species from ONE PLACE to ANOTHER

WHY Migration?? Animals migrate to find a warmer climate during the winter

Where do animals Migrate? Most animals migrate south for the winter because they cannot survive the cold climates of their area. When winter is over, the animals pack on up and go back home for the spring and summer!

Adaptation Some animals will adapt to their surroundings by growing a thicker coat or use camouflage by changing their color.

What kinds of animals hibernate and what kinds of animals migrate? Well, that’s up to you to find out!
