FISH: a vertebrate that lives in water and uses fins to move Domain: Eukarya Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Chordata (Chordates) 3 Classes of Fish

All Fish … Have Fins Breathe with gills Live their entire life in water Most have scales Are Cold-blooded (ectotherm)

The 3 Classes of Fish are Jawless Cartilage Bony

First fish were jawless: They were restricted to sucking and scraping for food Once jaws evolved fish were able to bite and chew

Jawless Fish Lampreys and hagfish are the only two jawless fish. Characteristics of Jawless fish: Long and snake like No proper skull Skin is tough and slimy with no scales No jaw Cartilage skeleton
