How It Was Named Named after the roman god of Love and Beauty Named this because Venus is the brightest planet Venus’s symbol

Discovery No one knows who discovered it, humans have been aware of venus since they first looked at the night sky, we approximate that its around 1663.

Distances Second planet from the sun 108,200,000 KM from the sun At the most 261,000,000 KM at the least 38,000,000 KM from the earth

Planet Measurements Mass of 4.769e24 kg Volume of kg Density 5259 kg/m^3 8.87m/s^2 Gravity Venus would sink in water

Orbit and Rotation It takes 224.7days to orbit the Sun It takes 243 days to rotate on its axis

Atmosphere and Temperature the atmosphere is made up of mostly Carbon Dioxide, Nitrogen exists in small doses and so does Sulfur Dioxide The cloud cover is made of Sulfur Dioxide Its average is 460°c on the surface, 410°c hotter than earth

Composition and Appearance Venus has a rock surface, a rocky mantle, and a molten metallic core. It appears very bright to the naked eye. when looked at through a telescope the surface is obscured by a thick cloud cover, banded with different shades of blue. The surface has many high and low lands but is relatively smooth compared to Mars and Mercury.

Weather Some winds are up to 360 km/h The wind slow as they grow nearer to the equator and at the equator there are almost none

Rings, Moons, & Water There are no rings, and Venus has no moons The atmosphere is about 0.002% water vapor

If Humans Were to Travel There If humans were to travel to venus we would be killed in the toxic atmosphere

Fun Facts Venus rotates backwards in relation to the other planets People used to think venus was tropical due to the thick cloud cover Venus has phases The atmosphere is very hostile with clouds of sulfuric dioxide and 92 times the pressure of earth.
