How did the location of a civilization affect its development? How were the people affected by the environment, and how did they shape the environment to succeed? How was movement a part of civilizations? What were some of the key geographical features or landforms of a civilization?

What factors contributed to the development of a religion or belief system? How was this religion of study similar or different from others you know about? How did religion shape other aspects of this society/civilization?

How did achievements contribute to the development of civilizations? How were achievements related to the needs of a civilization? What was the significance of achievements by ancient civilizations? In what way did the achievements relate to other civilizations or cultures?

What was the context that led to the development of political ideas or practices? Evaluate the benefits and limitations of political structures and ideas? How are the political structures of today similar or different from those of ancient civilizations?

What economic practices are civilizations engaged in? To what extent was the economy local? Global? What were the key products/items that civilizations created, grew, or traded? How did the economy related to the geography of ancient civilizations?

Why did social structures exist? Who benefited and who was harmed by social structures? How did the social structures connect to ancient civilization's religion, politics, and economics?
